Delivery Costs, Timing and Delivery Options
- England and Wales (mainland) - FREE Delivery
- Scotland (mainland) - Delivery is £10.00 for the first item, extra items £5.00 to MAINLAND Scotland postcodes EXCEPT; Mainland Scotland KY, FK, PA, DD postcodes £15.00 first item, extra items £10.00. Mainland Scotland AB, IV postcodes £20.00 for the first item, extra items £10.00.
Stock advertised for sale is either already in our warehouse ready for delivery; arriving on our next stock delivery in a couple of days; or is delivered direct from the manufacturer. Normal delivery times are between 5-12 working days. Stock may have to be re-ordered if it does not meet quality requirements when it is re-checked prior to delivery. If your order is affected you will be kept informed of the progress by email.
We use a dedicated specialist furniture delivery company, deliveries are to the doorstep only. If you have large or heavy items to be delivered please ensure that you have assistance available.
You will receive an sms message at least 24 hours before delivery notifying you of the day and time slot. Please reply 'YES' or 'NO'. You will receive confirmation back by sms that your reply has been received.
If you only supplied a landline number, my courier will call with a day and time slot.
On the delivery day the driver will call ahead to let you know he will be with you soon.
Normal delivery time once he has your item is from 1-7 days depending on where your postcode fits on his delivery schedule. Scotland, the South coast and the West country are done every 10 days or so.
Most postcodes are covered more than once a week, so if you decline a delivery it should not be long before an alternative date is offered. If the day or time slot offered is not suitable please understand that asking for it to be later in the day or the following day instead is just not possible. Co-ordinating bulky furniture deliveries on long distance delivery runs is a difficult and complex process and whilst myself and my courier want you to have your delivery as soon as possible requesting specific days of the week / or times will delay your delivery.
The West country and Scottish delivery runs are 2 day delivery runs and are normally done over a weekend and may include the Monday or Friday. Please wait and see what my courier offers on first delivery option and contact me then if not suitable.
Delivery will not be attempted until a date has been confirmed between the delivery company and the customer. Should the delivery company arrive at the agreed time to find you not available to take delivery, Scoutabout Interiors reserves the right to charge re-for delivery. The delivery cost will be charged at the same cost as the collection rate table. A signature on delivery is always required.
Moving house? No problem, just let me know, I can hold orders at my warehouse until required.
Please note, if orders are stored on customer request and then cancelled they will be treated as a cancelled order and the same charges as collection charges will be applied as well as a storage fee amounting to 1% of the item cost for each full 7 day week past the order date.
If you change your mind after placing your order you are still able to make a cancellation, regardless of the reason, without any fee before the item is despatched. Once despatched, the fee charged will be as the collection fee table below.
Once you have taken delivery of your goods, we will only give full refunds in accordance with your legal rights. For example, if the goods are not fit for purpose or as described. Chandeliers / lighting - please check carefully before installation. Unless a return is requested due to an electrical fault, returns will only be accepted if the chandelier / lighting is in its original packaging, and unused i.e. not altered in any way, and the chain / wire un-cut.
Goods for return must be in their original packaging, and unused. If an item or items have been agreed at a special price by email or phone with the customer and Scoutabout Interiors, and are therefore subject to a 'special order' terms, returns are not permitted unless faulty or damaged. The provisions of the above paragraph do not affect your statutory rights.
If you wish to return an item, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number and the item details to be collected.
Reimbursement will be made without undue delay, and no later than:
14 days after we receive back from you the products supplied or if no products were supplied to you, 30 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel the order.
Your reimbursement will be made through your original payment method used to place your order. You will not incur any fees as a result of us making a reimbursement payment to you.
If collection of an item is required due to a change of mind once the courier has left, we will refund the cost of your furniture, less the following collection charges;
- side tables, bedside tables, bean bags, stools, table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers 6 arm or less, £20.00
- bedroom chairs, storage trunks, coffee tables, office chairs, chandeliers 8-10 arm, wall mirrors, french salon chairs, dining chairs, £30.00
- Sofas, armchairs, dining tables, wardrobes, armoires, shelves, bookcases, sideboards, cabinets, cupboards, ottomans, dressing tables, chests of drawers, shelving units, bookcases, beds, pedestals, filing cabinets, drinks cabinets, dining chair sets of 4 or more, headboards, bed frames, leaner mirrors, large cheval mirrors, TV / media units, desks, chandeliers 12 arm and above, £45.00
-Dining Table and Chair Sets of 4, £60.00.
-Dining table and chair sets of 6, £70.00.
-Dining table and chair sets of 8, £80.00.
Note: If multiple items are to be collected, the charge will be made for the higher rated item; Only one return charge will be made per collection.
You can place your order and pay on-line. You do not need to have a paypal account. Interest free credit is also available ranging from 6-12 months with as little as 10% deposit.
Delivery and Unpacking
Most items are delivered boxed, chairs may not be depending on the supplier, unfortunately, damages in transit do sometimes occur - if this happens to you, please notify Scoutabout Interiors by email with digital pictures of the damage.
Fixing packs can be taped to the item, or inside a drawer, please check thoroughly if not found straightaway!
Knobs for drawers are usually screwed on in reverse for transport. DO NOT over tighten knobs particularly on glass furniture, this leads to stress fractures. Scoutabout Interiors will not be held responsible for this should it occur.
Product Descriptions and Disclaimer
Scoutabout Interiors sources and sells unique and interesting pieces from around the world. These are not mass-produced factory-made items, and as such, have individual variances within each piece, as follows:
WOOD: Wood furniture is designed to highlight the natural beauty of the wood and thus can often feature natural and distinctive features such as knots and grain shading. These natural features can vary from product to product, and indeed within components on the same piece. Thus, no two pieces are identical. The unique properties of wood should not be mistaken for flaws. Typically, each piece will have a slightly different grain pattern, with variation in colour shading and grain likely between different products and within the same product. Distressed wood often features small splits will add to the character of the piece, and are a normal feature of all natural wood furniture.
Timber is a natural product and will have small knots, burrs and inconsistent grains. These occur when the tree grows in the forest, and may still be visible in even the most meticulously selected timber - this should not be seen as a blemish but the proof of the highly individual nature of this fine material.
Timber will continue to expand and contract throughout the year and will acclimatise to its surroundings; slight movement between panels and hairline cracks within the grain will occur. This is totally natural and is expected from a natural material such as timber e.g hairline cracks in the grooves or slight movement in panels or joints are commonplace.
All timber surfaces will change colour and mellow over time. New furniture will initially vary in shade from items that have been previously purchased with the same finish. Colour variance between solids and veneers may be visible; every effort is made to reduce this variance in the manufacturing process.
Some furniture may use filler to reduce visibility of joint lines, decorative and common veneers are curt on a precise rotary lathe, they are extremely delicate and may have holes where small pieces have become detached, this is overcome by a matching filler applied as the veneers are laid, this is a normal process in furniture making.
Furniture finishes can vary, some ranges of furniture may require an antiqued look. The surface of this timber will be purposely dented, scratched and left rough, this completes the loo of the furniture and adds another completely unique element to your furniture.
Each piece of furniture is unique and will not be identical to the rest of the pieces in the range. Not one piece of timber is the same, it’s your own personal piece.
MIRRORED ITEMS: These have small gaps between the cut corners, which allows for the natural expansion and contraction of the wooden body that can occur due to fluctuating temperatures. By avoiding exposure of your furniture to excessive heat e.g. it in front of a radiator, you can help to avoid cracking. Glass or mirrored panels should be cleaned using a non-solvent based glass cleaner and a soft cloth, avoiding contact with wooden or painted sections.
GLASS: Glass items are never completely identical, with minor variances such as air bubbles, hand tool marks, pattern and colour irregularities. Each of these is a sign that a skilled human hand produced the glassware, rather than a machine. Shapes, sizes and colours can vary from piece to piece. This is the nature of the product.
METAL: Metal items are typically hand-crafted or hand-finished. It is thus normal for colour to vary, and for slight imperfections to be visible. This adds character and authenticity to these pieces.
CERAMIC/POLYRESIN: These can vary slightly in shape or size, and may show firing marks, craze lines or glaze bubbles. This is the nature of the production process and is not a fault.
STONE FINISHES: Finishes such as marble and granite (including composite marble/stone/high gloss finishes) may differ in colour and veining from item to item. We can thus not guarantee that the finish on any given items will be exactly as pictured. High-Gloss furniture is not scratch proof, so the use of coasters and placemats is recommended to minimize scratches and maintain the original finish.
FABRICS: Fabrics, including PVC, are not guarantee their colour fastness, fading, wearing quality, and durability over time. Some fabrics will change with age and exposure to sunlight, or show adverse reactions to various environmental conditions. In addition, leather items may show variations in the sheen and texture, including wrinkling and natural marks, due to the variances in the original leather, and the natural dying and tanning processes.
PLASTIC: Plastics may vary slightly due to the variation of the polymers and the fabrication process.
WALL ART PAINTINGS: Due to the hand applications of materials and natural variation of the canvas, finishes are not guaranteed to be a perfect match, with imperfections or variations in the colour and tone occurring naturally. In addition, small indentations in the paint are perfectly normal.
BEADS & GEMS: These are added by hand. There may be loose gems/beads in the packaging. Please handle with care as rough handling may cause the beads/gems to fall off.
Caring for your furniture.
Please do not use abrasive cleaners or silicone-based products on your furniture as this could damage or alter the surface.
Always use mats and coasters with cork / felt backing when placing hot items on the surface of your furniture. Avoid mats and coasters with plastic / rubber backs / feet - they can leave un-reversible marks on the surface over time.
Any liquid spilled onto the item should be cleaned up immediately using an absorbent cloth. Please ensure the surface is completely dry.
never use sharp items on the surface of the product; knives and utensils may damage the surface. It is advisable to place a mat under paper when writing.
Never overload an item such as a shelf that may be beyond what the shelf may reasonably hold.
Please do not sit or place an amount of weight onto the edge of a tabletop as this may cause the table to tip.
Never attempt to lift heavy furniture on your own, always seek assistance and wherever possible please dismantle any heavy items before moving them to a new location.
Please periodically tighten bolts and screws on all self-assembly items, as these may work loose over time. Furniture placed in conservatories or next to a window may change colour due to sunlight.
Your furniture will endure most temperatures in your home, but it is recommended that placing it next to a heat source such as a fire or radiator is avoided. This is particularly recommended as the heat may cause timber to warp, crack or split.
Measurements are to the nearest 10 mm and the points are taken at the widest/largest point on the item, and please bear in mind that handmade furniture is exactly that, and not every piece will be of an identical size.
Pictures are all taken with a high resolution camera, however, colour is affected somewhat by the amount of available light when the image is taken. Attempts to minimize this are taken and products featured are what you would expect to see if you visited the items in storage.
As the furniture featured on this as it is handmade, different batches may vary in colour. Scoutabout Interiors will not be liable for any such variances. Your personal computer settings also affect the picture slightly as all monitors have different attributes and quality inefficiencies. Please bear this in mind.
